Our Caring & Compassionate Veterinary Team

Vanier Animal Hospital’s permanent staff consists of veterinarians Dr. Butler and Dr. Yoo, registered veterinary technicians Sarah and Olivia, receptionists Chanelle and Marie, and veterinary assistants and client service representatives Crystal, Maddie, Melissa, Vani, Maram, and Isobel. Each semester, we host university, college, and high school students to help prepare them for a career in veterinary medicine.

Across our staff, we are fluent in 8 languages (English, French, Polish, Arabic, Tamil, Cantonese, Mandarin and Korean) and have experience working with a vast variety of animals such as reptiles, birds, farm animals, marine life, and wildlife.

On top of all that, our LGBTQIA+ friendly staff members are actively involved in our community, volunteering our free time with organizations such as Community Veterinary Outreach, Ottawa Valley Wild Bird Care Centre, and the Ottawa Spay/Neuter Clinic.

Please call us at (613) 748-1234 to speak to one of our caring veterinary staff members.

Dr. Butler

Veterinarian

Dr. Butler went to high school and university in Ottawa before attending the Ontario Veterinary College then raised her family in the area with a practice in Carleton Place. Her experience includes years of emergency and on-call work in Ottawa and the Valley with a special interest in preventive veterinary care – to avoid if possible those costly emergency visits.

Dr. Butler is very evidenced based – working to keep pet health care costs low by recommending the most current medical or surgical care with a focus on prevention. Having worked in human public health with the World Health Organization she follows the human health literature. Our pets really are just like us from a health standpoint – they have allergies, can suffer from heart, kidney and other diseases and need to maintain healthy teeth and weights.

She enjoys volunteering for the Ottawa Vet Outreach helping the disadvantaged keep their pets healthy, adores her grandpuppies Biddy and Obie and hopes to be on a tennis court when not busy in practice.

Dr. Yoo

Veterinarian

Dr. Yoo moved to Canada from South Korea in 2014, where she graduated in 1999, from Kyungpook National University. Her interests include surgery, with an interest in orthopedics, and preventative medicine. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, doing yoga, snowboarding. But her favourite thing to do is spend time with her loving family and pets.
