Dr Butler went to high school and university in Ottawa, then raised her family in the area with a practice in Carleton Place. Her experience includes years of emergency and on call work in Ottawa and the Valley with a special interest in preventive veterinary care – to avoid if possible those costly emergency visits.
Part of preventive care is managing seasonal allergies in pets – again to keep veterinary costs low such as those costs for recurring ear infections and hot spots which are a hallmark of seasonal allergies.
Dr Butler is very evidenced based – working to keep pet health care costs low by recommending the most current medical or surgical care with a focus on prevention. Having worked in human public health she follows the human health literature. Our pets really are just like us from a health standpoint – they have allergies, can suffer from heart, kidney and other diseases and need to maintain healthy teeth and weights.
She enjoys volunteering for the Ottawa Vet Outreach helping the disadvantaged keep their pets healthy, adores her grandpuppy Biddy and hopes to be on a tennis court when not busy in practice.
